南京プロジェクトvol.6（仮）
3年のリサーチを経て上演される 南京大虐殺をめぐるわたしたちの話し方
2022年より、かもめマシーンでは「南京プロジェクト」として、早稲田小劇場どらま館における留学生インタビューをはじめ、台湾・国立中正大学でのWS、イギリス・ランカスター大学や沖縄・わが街の小劇場におけるワークインプログレス、横浜・Site-D集会場での参加型パフォーマンスなどを通じて、1937年に起こった南京大虐殺を巡る問いを深めてきました。第二次大戦の終結から80年を経た今もなお、日本と中国の間において根深く横たわるこの虐殺事件。「南京プロジェクトvol.6（仮）」では、これまでのプロジェクトの集大成として、舞台作品を上演します。21世紀を生きる世代にとって「責任」とはなにか？いま、過去の加害行為について振り返る意味とは？そして、「わたしたち」は、どうやって「あなたたち」と「対話」できるのか？パフォーマーの身体を通じて、いま、わたしたちの取るべき態度が浮かび上がってくるでしょう。

NANJING PROJECT vol.6 (working title)
After three years of researching, how do we speak about the Nanjing Massacre through performance?
Since 2022, Kamome Machine has been developing the Nanjing Project, a series of works that explore the questions surrounding the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. The project has unfolded through a variety of processes: interviews with international students at Waseda University in Tokyo, a workshop at National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan, work-in-progress shows at Lancaster University in the UK and at The Small Theater in Our Town in Okinawa, and a participatory performance at Site-D Meeting Hall in YPAM 2024. Even 80 years after the end of World War II, this massacre remains a deeply rooted trauma between Japan and China. In Nanjing Project Vol.6 (working title), they will present a stage production as the current culmination of this project. What does “responsibility” mean for a generation living in the 21st century? What is the meaning of looking back on past violence today? And how can “WE” enter into dialogue with “YOU”? The attitudes we need to embrace will emerge through the bodies of the performers.

Kamome Machine
Founded in 2007, Kamome Machine theatre company creates works exploring how the concept of ‘public' can be embodied through the body. Their major works include site-specific performance Waiting for Godot in Fukushima, following Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant disaster in 2011; Oregayo, a performance based on Japanese Constitution. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the group has developed Telephone Theater Series, a series of performances that use a dial phone as a stage. Since 2022, the company has been researching and developing a performance about the Nanjing Massacre in Japan, Taiwan, and the UK.
